Chris Bade, Music Director
Christopher Bade is Professor of Music at Taylor University (since 2004) where his responsibilities include conducting the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, teaching Clarinet and Saxophone, Music History, Music Theory, and Fine Arts/Humanities in the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance.
In March Bade conducted the 2025 American Christian Schools International Honors Festival Orchestra in Budapest, Hungary. From there he joined the Taylor Sounds on their music ministry tour of Romania. He serves as Section Clarinet in Orchestra Indiana after having been Principal Clarinet in the Marion Philharmonic for 18 years. He has been a clarinet soloist with Orchestra Indiana, Marion Philharmonic and Alliance Symphony Orchestras. Bade plays and records in the Upland Trio with Josh Aerie, cello, and Greg Kostraba, piano. He is active as a clinician (orchestra, wind band, and clarinet) and adjudicator throughout the Midwest.
Bade earned degrees from Illinois Wesleyan University (BME, cum Laude), the University of Akron (MM) and the University of Illinois (DMA).
His wife, Michelle, is an Assistant Professor of Music Education and Coordinator of Master’s of Music Education courses at Anderson University. of Master’s of Music Education courses at Anderson University. She serves as Area IV representative of IMEA.
